Delete your account

You can do this yourself, at any time, without asking us and without giving a reason. It is a real deletion rather than a flag on a row, and it cannot be undone.

Take a copy first

Download your data before you delete. Afterwards we cannot get it back for you, because it is genuinely gone. The export button is on the same page as the delete button.

How to do it

  1. 1 Sign in to your account.
  2. 2 Open “Your data” from the account menu.
  3. 3 Use “Download everything” if you want a copy.
  4. 4 Choose “Delete my account”, type your password to confirm, and that is that.

We ask for your password rather than just accepting that you are signed in. Being logged in proves somebody logged in once; it does not prove they are the one holding the phone now, and this is not a button to get wrong.

What gets deleted

Immediately, and permanently:

  • Your account, your name and your email address.
  • Your profile: height, weight, date of birth, goals and experience.
  • Your whole food diary, and any foods you added yourself.
  • Every workout you logged, and every measurement you recorded.
  • Your medical notes and emergency contact.
  • Your memberships, class bookings and attendance history.
  • Notes gym staff wrote about you. A gym does not get to keep those.
  • Your sign-in history and your record of who looked at your data.

What does not

Two things, and neither of them identifies you afterwards:

  • Any programme you wrote on a gym’s behalf stays with the gym, without your name on it — it is the gym’s training plan, and other members may be following it. One you wrote for yourself goes with everything else.
  • Copies inside encrypted backups, which roll off within 30 days.

If you only want to leave a gym

You do not need to delete anything. Leaving a gym is its own button, on the gyms page, and it stops that gym’s staff seeing anything of yours from the moment you use it. Your diary, workouts, measurements and history stay with you, because they were never the gym’s.

If you cannot get in

Try a password reset first — it is the quickest route, and it puts you back in control of the account rather than handing that job to us. If that does not work, write to hello@fitfinch.com from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We will check it is you, do it, and confirm, within one month and normally within a few days.
